They posted a challenge for the weekend; create something, other than a card, that is a Red, White, & Blue.

I made a Patirotice wreath to hang in my house. I've seen a lot of these made and have been wanting to make one for a while now.




Details:
* Started with a styrofoam wreath.
* Wrapped 2" ribbon around to cover the wreath.
* Wrapped mini star garland around the wreath.
* Attached a bow made from the same ribbon.
* Using "Stand and Salute", I cut out 1 1/2 and 2 inch stars from various papers.
* Patterned papers are from DCWV Summer Dreams stack (from last year). Solids are from my stash, and weren't labeled.
* On the solid red, and blue papers, I stamped some stars and fireworks using a Versamark ink pad and Pink By Design "Independence Day" image set. (It's a little hard to see in the pictures.)
* I used the same stamp set to stamp USA, stars, and fireworks in red and blue on plain white cardstock.
* The sentiments are from the "Red, White & Blue" sentiment stamp set. Punch using an eKSuccess punch and inked around the edges, and added some ribbon tails.

I love how it turned out and it will hang in my house through out the summer until it's time to decorate for Fall.

DCWV May Stackaholic Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends!

Are you a paper lover? Do you love DCWV paper stacks? Do you know they are having a monthly Stackaholic Sketch Challenge?

I having been "collecting" DCWV stacks for years. The papers are so beautiful and they coordinate perfectly!

I have to admit that I love them so much that I am always afraid to cut into them! But, what better way to preserve your favorite photos than with your favorite papers! Now that I've started cutting my favorite papers, I am having so much fun preserving my favorite photos and creating memories for my children and family.

Here is the sketch for May.


As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. Here is my 12x12 layout.





Details:
* Stack I used is the DCWV 'Dots, Stripes, & Plaids' stack (love the colors and glitter) Besides the besides the green background paper, all papers are from this stack.
* Cardstock for base is from my stash, and it wasn't labeled
* Chipboard glitter heart and journaling tag are from DCWV 'Dots, Stripes, & Plaids'
* "Socks" title is cut using Cricut 'Don Juan' and layered
* Martha Stewart edge punch (not sure of the name)
* Crocheted 5-petal flowers
* Center of the flowers are Epiphany Crafts Round Shape Studio
* 'Smile' and 'Laugh' are stamped using Pink By Design 'Big Thoughts" stamp set

My crafty mom made both my daughters and I some knitted socks a couple of years ago, and I took these pictures right after we got them. They are the comfiest and coziest socks! My older daughter and I still wear ours all the time. My mom loves to craft and make gifts for all of her children and grand children, and we all love it! I love to crochet and I've tried my hand at knitting, but I've never attempted to make socks, or anything wearable (other than scarves). I think on our next visit I'll take some supplies and ask her to teach me. Thanks Mom!

Scrappin' Chics Challenge - Kitchen Project #3

Happy Sunday Crafty Friends!

Today over at the Scrappin' Chics Challenge blog, the designers are sharing our 3rd and final projects for the May "Kictchen" challenge. All the details can be found on their blog.

For my 3rd project, I made some recipe cards to go with my recipe box that I made. You can check it out here.

I kept the recipe cards pretty simple and I plan to write down some special recipes on them. I want to be able to use them and I felt that if they were too fancy (or pretty), then I might not use them.

Details:
* Cut white cardstock pieces just shy of the width of the recipe box and about 7" long. Scored and folded almost in half.
* Stamped the "paper" using Pink By Design 'Notebook Paper Background' stamp. These stamps are great because they are 'tileable'. Meaning that they can be stamped over and over and they line up perfectly. I stamped it twice. You can see all their stamps here.
* Lemon and lime stamped using $1 stamps and cut out.
* Sentiment stmaped using Pink By Design 'Jump & Jive' set.
* Added gems using the Imaginisce i-Rock

Retro Daddy card

I've been following K Andrew's blog, and she has a Simply Sunday challenge every other Sunday. You can check out the challenge here.

I made this card for the 'Retro Daddy!' challenge.

This card incorporates many of my favorite things; DCWV stacks, Pink By Design stamps, cording, and Imaginisce i-Rock. Don't you just LOVE these products?!

This card has a lot of layers so I will be hand-delivering it to my Dad when we visit in July. It will be a little bit late, but I don't want it to get squished and ruined in the mail. I'll send him a picture of it on Father's Day.

Guest Designer for Pink Cricut!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I have the pleasure of being a Guest Designer over at Pink Cricut!

Sarah is a super sweet and generous person and crafter who has her own line of sentiment stamps, background stamps, and image stamps called Pink By Design. She also has a stamp of the month club that offers an exclusive stamp set each month.

Don't you just love PBD stamps?! If you don't have any of her stamps, what are you waiting for?! You must stop by Pink By Design and pick up a set (or two, or three).

Today I'd like to share with you a couple of cards I made using the "With Sympathy" sentiment stamp set.

Sympathy cards are always the hardest for me to make. I usually make cute cards with ribbons, buttons, and bling, so I had to hold back the bling for these. And finding just the right thing to say can be tough. But with this stamp set all you need to do is choose the appropriate sentiment for the outside/inside of your card.

Made It Myself Monday - Recipe Box

Scrappin' Chics Challenge - May Project #2

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome to the May Scrappin' Chics Challenge!

Each of the designers will be creating and sharing 3 projects for each month's challenge. Click here if you'd like to see my first project.

The challenge for May is to create a project with a "Kitchen" theme (expect you can't use the 'apron' cut from the "From My Kitchen" cartridge). You have until the 27th of the month (at noon) to link up your project at the Scrappin' Chics Challenge blog here.

There are lots of fun sponsors who have donated the prizes for each month. All the details can be found on the Scrappin' Chics blog.

For my second project, I altered a plain recipe box that I bought at Michael's. (Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the plain box.) It's pretty sturdy and has a hindged lid.

I chose to use the colors yellow and green to match my everyday kitchen decor.




Details:
Covered the base and lid with cardstock from the DCWV "Lemon Flower" stack
Cut 'Recipes' at 2" using "From My Kitchen" cartridge. (The green cardstock on the bottom layer is also from the same DCWV stack.)
Added stickles to the lettering and inked all the edges
Cut the 'Lime' at 2 1/4" using "Preserves" cartridge and adhered with foam squares.
Cardstock is from Core'dinations (plain and shimmer). Inked all the layers and adhered with foam squares.
Added ribbon around the bottom edge of the base and the lid.

Mother's Day

My Mother's Day project is a card for my Mom. Among the many crafty things my Mom does (and she does alot!), she is a master seamstress and also loves to quilt. I scraplifted the idea of the stiching/quilted look on this card from Debbie at DD Crafts. Thanks for the inspiration!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!!

As many of you probably know, today is National Scrapbooking Day. And there are so many challenges going on today.

My Pink Stamper is hosting her 4th annual NSD challenge. She posted 1 challenge per hour for 12 hours! That's 1 challenge per hour! I wasn't able to do them one per hour in order, but she is giving everyone until Monday to complete as many as you can (or want). And, she has a giveaway for each challenge! I don't usually win giveaways, but I wanted to spend some time crafting today, and challenges are a great way to get inspiration!

Scrappin' Chics Challenge - May Project #1

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome to the first Scrappin' Chics Challenge!

Every month over at the Scrappin' Chics Challenge Blog, we'll be having a month-long challenge. There are some great sponsors and prizes!
