Throwback Thursday - Paper Doll Dress Up

Welcome back!

For this week's Throwback Thursday Challenge (over at My Creative Time), Emma chose the Paper Doll Dress Up cartiridge. The challenge is to make a 3D project using this cartridge.
Here is what I made.


It's a gift bag topper. I cut the clown at 2 3/4" and used Peahcy Keen face stamps for his face. I cut out a tiny circle and added for his nose. I cut the "Happy Birthday" at 2" using Beyond Birthdays cartridge.

Throwback Thursday Challenge #2

Wow! I'm having a fun and busy scrapping weekend!

I made this card to participate in Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge #2 over at "My Creative Time". The challenge this week was to create a project using the "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge and the colors red, blue and brown. I think this was the very first cartridge I bought after getting my Cricut. And I've probably only used it once or twice. This color combination was challenging, but I guess that's part of what makes it fun.

I have always liked paisley, It reminds me of my dad's ties when I was little. I cut the Paisley at 3" and 2" and added only one of the layers. The red layer I embossed using the Cuttlebug and Swirls folder. I added some ribbon and layered the paisley cut outs with dimensionals. This looks like a masculine card, and I'll probably use it for a Birthday.


I can't wait to see what Emma challenges us with next week...

I noticed after I posted this that the color is off. It should be red and not orange :)

4th of July Layout

Although I've been making quite a few cards lately, this is what I really love doing. I love to scrapbook my many pictures. But I do have to admit, I don't scrapbook as much as I should. Three kids equals years of photos. So I was excited when I heard that this week's Peachy Keen Stamps challenge is "Shadow Box Challenge". Here is my 12x12 layout that I made. (I still have to pick up a shadow bow to put it in.)

These are photos from 4th of July 2009. This is me and my youngest having fun with sparklers (shh... don't tell anyone). I have been wanting to scrap these for a while now, but just haven't had the right inspiration. The inspiration came from the PKS "Firecraker" stamp that was available during their Memorial Day weekend sale. I also picked up the new Independance Day cartridge during another sale.

I stamped the firecrackers on white cardstock, colored them with colored pencils, and then cut out each one. They are mounted with dimensionals. I cut the "4th of July" at 4" and the "Red White & Blue" at 3". Since this not a full cartridge, there are no creative function keys. For the "Red White & Blue", I cut it out in red and blue. I then cut off the "Blue" and glued it on the red layer. I then layered it all on white and cut it out by hand. It was a lot of work, but I like how it turned out. I mounted all the photos on blue and tied them with ribbons. The final touch was to add dashes and dots with a white pen.



I had lots of fun making this lay out and am going to spend some time this summer (while unemployed) to scrap many more memories. I hope to at least make a dent in my stacks of photos.

Baby Shower card

While I was working on the Graduation card, I was reminded that we have a baby shower to go to today. A friend is having their first baby, a boy.

The card dimensions are 6"x6". I cut the baby at 3 1/2" using Every Day Paper Dolls. I embossed the onesie using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. For the face, I used Peachy Keen face stamps. The letters were cut at 1" using Don Juan. I stickled the edges and mounted them on pre-cut 1 1/2" paper squares. The baby and blocks are attached using dimensionals. I also sdded a ribbon and stamped greeting.

The greeting on the inside was cut at 3 1/2" using Beyond Birthdays. I cut off the kite from the greeting.

Graduation Card

This card is for the "Hats Off to the Grad" challenge over at Made by Momo.

I made this graduation card for my friend's son who is graduating from preschool. I wanted something cute and simple.


I used Every Day Paper Dolls and cut the graduate at 3 3/4". The background paper is from my stash and I can't remember where I bought it. I also used Peachy Keen face stamp. The greeting on the inside is cut at 2 1/2" from Don Juan (I cut off the "snowflakes").

I've been pretty busy making cards and projects, so I'll have more to post soon...

Throwback Thursday Challenge

I made this project to participate in Emma's first Throwback Thursday challenge over at "My Creative Time". The challenge is to make a project using and "older" cartridge. For this one she chose "Animal Kingdom" (or another "animal" theme if you didn't have this one). I bought this cartridge a while back (before Create A Critter) to use for some zoo themed layouts.

For my project, I made a wall plaque for my niece. She is getting a new bedroom and it's going to be Princess themed. I used the giraffe because when we visited their zoo, we got to feed the giraffes. And when I took her to the gift shop, she picked out a little toy giraffe.

The giraffe is cut using Animal Kingdom and the letters using Ashlyn's Alphabet. the castle and tiara on the giraffe are cut using Once Upon A Princess. I added some pink stickles to the tiara, and a ribbon across the bottom.



Thanks Emma for getting us to use an older cartridge. I really like this one for some more realistic animal. I'll definitely be using it more in the future.

Summer Time!

School's out... The days are long...

It must be summer time!!!

This card was made for the "Summer Project Challenge" over at "CanadianNickelScrapin". You are to make a summer inspired project. I chose to make a card with summery things on it. I saw this "Tri-Fold Shutter Card" done by Michelle over at "Scrappin With My Bug". I used the Every Day Paper Dolls cartridge for all the summery things, and Don Juan for the lettering.

Mini Crochet Flowers

Welcome back! I've recently seen posts where mini crochet flowers are being used on cards. I first saw Momo (madebymomo) use them on a card, and it turned out super cute. I searched the internet for instructions and then got a tiny crochet hook and some crochet thread and got to crocheting. At the same time, I saw Sonia (scraps4fun) post a card where she used some flowers that she had made. This is my new "thing" (besides blogging and FB) that I work on in the evenings.

Here are some flowers that I made.


And here is a card that I made using 3 of the white ones. I cut the vase and flowers stems using A Walk in My Garden cartridge. I embossed the lavendar background using Stylized Flowers embossing folder. I think I'll send this card to my Mom. She first taught me to crochet when I was in elementary school.



Next I am working on making some tiny butterfies.
