Sewing Box WINNER!!!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a comment for The Oridinal Scrapbox's latest contest. I really enjoyed reading them and seeing which product everyone likes (and wants). And a HUGE Thank You to everyone who chose to follow my blog. I am so close to 500 followers so I'll be having a give away soon.

I used random.org to chose the preliminary winner from all the entries on my blog. But before I could do that, I transefered all the comments over to an excel spreadsheet so that all the extra entries that everyone took the time to do would count. Some people left seperate comments for each entry, and some added all entries to one comment.

So, are you ready for the winner?

Out of 349 entries, Random.org chose entry #63!

Congratulations Jen B!

You have won a giant cutting mat, and an entry for the grand prize, a Sewing Box!

I need you to contact me at kmgillon@yahoo.com by tomorrow, Wednesday April 20th at 2pm (MST) or I will have to draw a new winner. I need your full name, address, and phone number.

The Grand Prize winner will be selected on Friday April 22nd.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Birthday Ball

Welcome all Loyal Subjects to...

The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Ball

I hope you were able to watch the Live party via Ustream. Wasn't it fun?! I'd like to thank the Queen herself for inviting me to be a part of her celebration. It's an honor and priviledge to be amongst such fabulous crafters!

My project for the party is a Sweet 16 mini-album. My daughter's friend is having a safari-themed Sweet 16 party and I wanted to make her a mini-album as a gift.

Front cover:

Inside pages:

Details: The mini-album is 4 1/2 inches tall by 8 inches long. I wanted it to be big enough to fit 4x6 photos.
I used cereal, cookie, and cracker boxes instead of chipboard. I like to use recycled materials (which with 3 kids I never have a shortage of) and they cut easier than chipboard. I use the regular blade with it set on 6 and pressure on high, and only need to cut once.
I used my Design Studio (since I don't have a Gypsy) to create the cover.
The "16" is from Don Juan, and the "Sweet" is from Lyrical Letters.
I added Cotton Candy pink Stickles the the "Sweet" to add some sparkle.
The leaves patterned paper was made with a rubber stamp and Versamark ink pad.
The animal print cardstock is Recollections from Michael's.
The animal heads were cut at 3 inches using Animal Kingdom.
I used my new Bind-It-All to bind the album. (I'm glad I picked one up a few weeks ago when Tuesday Morning had them on sale.)
I added some ribbons to the binding.
I used Helmar Acid Free glue (it spreads nicely with your fingers and dries clear) and Helmar Scrap Dots (to raise the animal cut-outs)

I think it turned out really cute, with not too much bling. (Teenagers seem to like more subtle.)

Your next stop at the party is Cynthia @ http://scrapsandscarves.blogspot.com/

The celebration will be going on through Sunday, April 11th. Be sure to start at the begining. You don't want to miss a single stop as there are so many fabulous projects and gifts along the way.

Birthday Week with Inking It Up Crazy

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I've been asked to be a Guest Designer over at Inking It Up Crazy to take part in her Birthday Celebration week. It's not Kassidy's birthday, she just thought it would be fun to share birthday projects all week. Today's projects are party favors. Who doesn't love party favors!

For my party favor I made this cute purse. My oldest will be 16 this year (in about 6 months) and we've started talking about planning her party. I think something like this would be super cute for all the girls! (hopefully I can come up with something if boys are invited) I think we'll fill them with girly stuff and sweets. My daughter thinks I'm crazy for thinking about this soo far in advance, but it will be here before we know it!

Here are the details:
Purse cut from Forever Young using the fit-to-page option.
Prima flowers
Imaginisce i-Rock and gemstones (everything needs a little bling!)
Tag stamped with 2 different stamp sets - "16" from Pink By Design's Take the Cake set, and "My Sweet" is part of a sentiment by Pink Stamper's Simply Sweet Ocassions set.
Edges of the tag are inked orange.
The tiny flowers on the tag are stamped using Pink By Design's stamp of the month set called grow. It was the set for March.
I also stamped the same tiny flower all over the purse using a Versamark pad, but it's hard to see in the picture.

I just love the way this turned out! Now let's see how many times my teen changes her mind between now and her party.

Don't forget to visit the other 2 designers for today and check out their party favors. Also be sure to stop by Kassidy's blog Thursday and Firday to see the rest of the Birthday projects!

Thanks for stopping by!
