Scrappin' Chics Challenge - "Summer Time"

Happy Friday Crafty Friends!

Today I'd like to share with you my final inspiration project for The Scrappin' Chics Challenge. This month's theme is a Favorite Song.

I've just recently gotten back into stamping and coloring stamps with Copics and Prisma colored pencils. As soon as I saw these cute stamps, I knew that I wanted to use them for this challenge.

My song inspiration is "Summer Time", by Will Smith. Growing up in southern CA we did alot of swimming during the summer in our pool and at friends' pools. These little cuties remind me of that!

Here is a close-up of the little boy.

And here is a close-up of the little girl.

Aren't these the cutest stamps?!

Details:
* white card base is 5x7 inches
* patterned paper - K&Co "Citronella" stack (it reminds me of the tiles on a swimming pool)
* The Greeting Farm "Summer Fun" stamped images
* Prisma colored pencils (my new favorite way to color stamped and digi images)
* Pink By Design "Summer Vacation" sentiment
* tag punch by eK Success, edges inked
* i-Rock gems
* ribbon

Be sure you stop on by the Scrappin' Chics Challenge blog and check out what all the other designers have created. And, don't forget to link up your project!

I'd also like to share with you a new feature over at Pink By Design stamps. I don't know if you've noticed, but I love my PBD stamps! I use them on almost all of my cards because I can always find the perfect sentiment (or two)! They are celebrating their 1st anniversary!!!

Pink By Design is having "Fan Flash Friday" over on their Facebook wall. Feel free to stop on by and share a project. If you aren't already, become a fan and let them know I sent you!

I'm also entering this card in CHallenge #51 - Digi (or Stamps) Monday, Summer theme, over at Paper Playtime.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Scrappin' Chics Challenge - "Wild Wild West"

Welcome Crafty Friends!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! We spent a week with my parents and I had a lot of crafty time with my Mom and siter-in-law. We made lots and lots of cards and I can't wait to share them with you!

But today I'd like to share my 2nd project for the July Scrappin' Chics Challege.

This month the challenge is to make a project based on your favorite song. And each month the design team shares 3 different projects based on this theme to help inspire everyone to create for the challenge.

Here is my project #2.

My song for this card is "Wild Wild West" by Will Smith.

I used the new Pink By Design stamp set called "Best in the West" for the cowgirl, cactus, and sentiment. As soon as I saw this new mage set, I immediately thought of this song. Isn't she cute?! Don't you just love her sparkly boots and bandana?! The paisley background and clouds are also stamped using PBD background stamps. You can find all of the PBD stamps here.

The rope frame is cut using the Wild West cartridge, and the edges are inked.

I hope I've given you some inspiration to make a project and enter our challenge. Be sure to stop by the Scrappin' Chics Challenge blog and check out all the other designer's project and then link up your own.

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrappin' Chics Challenge - Inspirational Song Layout

Happy Friday Crafty Friends!

Welcome to a new monthly challenge at The Scrappin' Chics! This month's challenge is to create a layout using your favorite song, or a song that inspires you.

This was truly a challenge for me! I listen to music on the radio, but I'm not "into" music now like I was when I was a teen. So for this challenge I had my teenage daughter help me out. She LOVES music and always has her iPod on! (what teen doesn't?!) She chose the picture, song lyrics, papers, colors, and I just put it all together (with a little design input).

Song:
"I Made It" by Kevin Rudolf

Lyrics:
"I look up to the sky,
and now the world is mine
I've known all my life,
I made it,
I made it!

The inspiration:
My daughter is a great athlete and plays 3 sports (volleyball, soccer, and track) at her school, as well as soccer for a travel club. The picture she chose is that of her and the 4x100m relay team, along with their coach. The picture was taken at a relay meet, and they took 1st place! This relay team went all the way to CIF finals for our county!

Here is her layout:

Details:
* Paper from my stash
* Prima flowers
* Buttons from my stash
* The Twinery "Caribbean" twine
* Thickers chipboard letters
* Glimmer Mist sprays in "Dragonfly" and "Gum Drop"
* eKsuccess punch
* Spellbinders "Labels Four"
* Gel pens in turquoise and green for the doodling

Didn't she do a great job?! We're already working on the next layout.

Don't forget to hop on over to the Scrappin' Chics Challenge blog for some more inspiration and to link up your layout.
